Our programs include:
Friendship Recovery Homes:
Created to provide a supportive living environment for people who want to achieve complete and lasting recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Friendship Recovery Homes are sponsored in part by a generous grant from The Jewish Fund.

Recovery Coaching:
A Recovery Coach teaches the tools for a balanced sober life -- spiritually driven self-reliance and healthy boundary setting. We give you the space to make decisions for your own future. At the same time, we help you set limits to protect yourself from self-destruction and relapse.
Spirituality Groups:
More than 10 weekly classes on Jewish spirituality offer people the opportunity to explore their heritage and incorporate Jewish concepts into their quest for a better, healthier life and for spiritual fulfillment.
The Recovery Rabbi:
Rabbi Yisrael Pinson’s primary mission is to reach out to recovering addicts. By serving as a link to the Jewish community, Rabbi Pinson offers friendship and support based on time-honored values. Fluent in four languages and having lived in numerous places around the globe, Rabbi Pinson has a unique ability to connect with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Since 2002, more than 200 Jewish people in different stages of recovery have contacted Rabbi Pinson to discuss their spiritual needs.
12-Step Meetings:
Traditional NA/AA meetings are held in a Jewish setting, enabling participants to share and learn from each other.
One-on-One Visits:
Rabbi Pinson regularly visits Jews in prison and in treatment centers, bringing with him the powerful message: “You are not alone. The Friendship House is here for you.”
Recovery Community:
Those who have struggled through difficult periods and returned to a healthy lifestyle are in the best position to help those currently in need. The Friendship House has been very successful in creating a community environment in which Jewish people in recovery can meet their peers, and are able to enjoy alcohol-free events. On Friday nights, members have the opportunity to join the Rabbi and his family for a Shabbat meal where no wine is served.
Referral Service:
From therapists to government agencies to treatment facilities, the Friendship House is able to refer addicts, people in isolation, and their loved ones to the services they need. We have referral agreements with many agencies in the community, including the Jewish Family Service’s Addiction Recovery Program.
Library:
The Friendship House Library has more then 500 volumes on self-help and Jewish spirituality. This original collection was donated by Irene and Rick Soble and will be expanded in the future.
Women Helping Women: Especially for women in need, this network pairs the newcomer with a peer who is a veteran of the recovery process. This program is partially funded by the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit.
