A Project of the Friendship Circle Since 1994, the Daniel B. Sobel Friendship House has been providing assistance and support to individuals and families in crisis as well as to the families of children with special needs. Infused with the warmth and vitality of the Lubavitch movement—a Jewish organization renowned for its hospitality and nonjudgmental approach—the Friendship House reaches out to those people  most in need of the comfort and guidance of a good friend.

THE HEALING POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
For people who are alone, isolated, and adrift…
Unfortunately, there are people in our community who are so lost that they do not know how to make healthy choices in their lives. One bad decision leads to another bad decision. Isolation, loneliness, and stress take terrible tolls on their psyches. Self-destructive tendencies, combined with the lures of drugs and alcohol send people into downward spirals. As they drift through their lives, they wreak havoc on themselves and others.
...we offer the healing power of friendship
A friend is a well-wisher, a sympathizer, a confidant, someone who stands by you and listens, serving as a sounding board and a shoulder to lean on, someone who offers unconditional acts of kindness and deep empathy. Friends act as role models, helping people in distress to find their way back to a healthy life.
Those who have struggled through difficult periods have friends to thank for their success in reaching havens of peace. Studies have shown that people with friends who make healthy lifestyle choices are inspired to do the same. At the Daniel B. Sobel Friendship House we harness the healing power of friendship. Through mentoring, role modeling, and support, we help people find their way to a healthier way of life.
